    Alopecia UK Big Weekend

    Come along to Alopecia UK's six 'Big Weekend' where we will have a series of events for those affected by alopecia. This year's host city is BRistol. We have four individual events that make up the weekend and you can choose to attend either one, two, three or all four. Below you can find a brief overview of the weekend... Weekend overview: Friday 27th September Reception: 19.00 – 21:30 Our Exhibition Hall will be open with a reception drink each as well as canapes. A great opportunity to chat to exhibitors ahead of the Saturday crowds and also meet others with alopecia in a relaxed setting. Saturday 28th September Adult Conference: 9.00 – 17.30 We have a timetable of talks, workshops and focus groups running from 9.00 through to 17:30. The Introductory Session starts at 10:15 in Bristol Suite 1 & 2. The Exhibition Hall will also be open from 9.00 to 16.00. Children, Teens & Parent Event: 10.00 – 16:30 We have a variety of event spaces especially for Children, Teens and Parents all of which are on the Lower Ground Floor. Please collect your event packs at the main Alopecia UK Sign In Desk before making your way down. Buffet Dinner & Disco: 19:30 – Midnight A great opportunity to digest the day and chat with others over a buffet dinner followed by some fun and dancing! Dress Code: Blue! Anything goes but we will have a blue theme in honour of it being Alopecia Awareness Month so, if you can, dig out something blue to either be your outfit or to add to your outfit!     Get Ahead of Hair Loss (GAoHL) is an initiative created to address the need for an annual, public educational event on the common causes of hair loss and raise awareness of the impact it can have on people and their quality of life.     The 11th World Congress Hair Research meeting is taking place in Barcelona this year. In 2019 the BHNS will be accepting applications for a travel bursary/fellowship for this event. Free communications will be presented in one of the following formats: - ORAL - POSTER You are to select either an oral presentation or a poster presentation, however, the Scientific Committee reserves the right to make the final decision concerning the form of presentation. By submitting your abstract, you are obliged to be available to present it depending on the outcome of the peer review. FORM OF PRESENTATION POSTER Abstracts selected for posters will be presented as posters during the Meeting and will be available for viewing in the poster area. Poster size: 0,90 x 1,50 Poster’s authors will have to be in front of their poster in due time on Thursday and Friday (during the evening coffee break), to answer any questions regarding their poster. The poster’s discussions will be between the author and the participants that might have questions. We will inform you in due time if your poster will be discussed on Thursday or Friday. ORAL PRESENTATION Abstracts selected for oral presentations will be presented during the Meeting. Presenting authors will receive all technical information and instructions prior to the Meeting in order to ensure the smooth running of sessions. Computer projection facilities (for PowerPoint presentations) will be available in the meeting rooms. GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS 1. All abstracts should be submitted online through the relevant website. 2. Abstracts must be submitted in English. 3. Abstract title should be less than 200 characters. Should be as brief as possible but long enough to clearly indicate the nature of the study. Abbreviations must not be used. 4. The primary author is obliged to be available to present the submitted abstract depending on the outcome of the peer review. 5. Write the authors in the Form, following this exemple: R.Grimalt Santacana, J.Ferrando Barbera, *N.Bosch Gili 6. Write the Centers in the Form, following this exemple: Dermatology Service, *Anathomy Service, Hospital del Mar, Barcelona, Spain. 7. Abstracts body should not exceed 3.000 characters including space in length. Structure your abstract as following: BODY: It should be composed by: Introduction & Objectives: A sentence describing the purpose of the study Materials & Methods: Describe your selection of observations or experimental subjects Results: Describe your results in a logical sequence Conclusions: Emphasize new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that are drawn from them 8. No references, tables, charts or images are allowed 9. Scheduling details and guidelines for the final preparation of accepted presentations will be announced to the email that you give us in the abstracts form 10. The final selection will be the responsibility of the Scientific Program Committee. 11. By sending your abstract, you authorize, in case of be accepted by the committee, to be published in the format chosen by Congress (book of abstracts, CD Communications, and online publication in case the Congress decides to do so) IMPORTANT: We will keep the regular registration fee to abtracts author, even if the Committe's acceptance is later than the Late registrarion date. But the author must be registered before March 15, otherwise his work will be automatically rejected. AWARDS During the Meeting, the Scientific Committee will select the best posters and the best oral presentations. Many of you will have been to an evidence-based update meeting organised by the Centre of Evidence-Based Dermatology at Nottingham where new evidence from systematic reviews and clinical trials are presented along with an expert panel involving clinicians, patients and methodologists. One unique feature of the meeting is that the topic for the next meeting is chosen by the delegates. The chosen topic for 2019 is hair disorders and topics will include an update on treatments for alopecia areata including JAK inhibitors. The meeting is being organised by the CEBD team led by Professor Hywel Williams in collaboration with the British Hair and Nail Society. So please save the date and do check the CEBD website as registration will open in November 2019. The meeting is usually fully booked, so please do not leave it until the last minute.
