Dr Mowbray trained in medicine at the University of Edinburgh and dermatology in Edinburgh. Before taking up her consultant post she spent 3 years studying for her MD degree on ‘Nitric Oxide  as a regulator of apoptosis and inflammation in human skin following ultraviolet irradiation’. Dr Mowbray works as a dermatology consultant in NHS Fife.
 

Dr Mowbray is the skin cancer lead for NHS Fife and acts as the South East Scotland managed clinical network (SCAN) skin cancer chair.  
 

Dr Mowbray is a member of the MRCP dermatology speciality question writing group. The remit of this group is to write exam questions for the membership of the royal college of physicians (MRCP) written exam.
